Survival Paint Can Heaters
A paint can heater is just a metal can, a roll of toilet paper inside and a bottle of isopropyl rubbing alcohol ready to soak the toilet paper roll. You then light it and it burns slowly so you can stay warm in an emergency, boil water and even cook food on top of it. The can does not need to specifically be a paint can, any can that you can fit a roll of toilet paper into should be fine.
To put out the flame you pop the paint can lid back on top of it and reuse it again in the future. Take caution as the can gets EXTREMELY hot.

- You will know when it is done by the strong but pleasant scent. Leave the heat on for as long as you like the scent to be at its strongest.
Cook Your Pasta In a Frying Pan to Save Time and Money
Instead of using a whole pot of water to cook up pasta you can save yourself time, water, energy and money by doing it with cold water in a frying pan.
Take your pan out and put in your pasta and pour cold water over it. It will cook faster than it would with a whole pot of boiling water and require less energy. This is particularly useful in emergencies and camping situations.
A tasty by product of this method of cooking pasta is that it leaves behind a thick water that can be used as a base to create your own sauces with.

To save time in future meals or to simply have some microwavable foods you can cook your pasta and toss it in butter/oils and then wrap it up in plastic and freeze it. It makes excellent meals for work lunches.
Another benefit to all of this is that you can effectively have stored pasta that only needs to be reheated in the event of an emergency.
